DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

New Directions Behavioral Health provides the full range of behavioral health care services:

• Employee Assistance Program services have been provided since 1978.
• Managed behavioral health care carve-out services were introduced in 1993.
• Integrated EAP behavioral health carve-out services have been provided to self-funded employers since 1994.
• Additional products include a Psychotropic Pharmacy Management Program, Organizational Development and Return to Work.

Based in Kansas City, the corporate office is accredited by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), licensed as a Third Party Administrator (TPA) in Missouri and Kansas and is certified as a Utilization Review Agent in Missouri and Kansas. We are scheduled for NCQA (National Commission for Quality Assurance) survey under the new managed behavioral health care standards.

Today, New Directions provides managed behavioral health care and employee assistance services to one million covered lives in Kansas, Missouri and nation-wide. We have offices in Kansas City, Springfield, MO and Cedar Rapids, IA. Additional locations are served by a credentialed affiliate provider network in all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Our client companies include HMO, POS and PPO health plans, self-funded employers, union trusts, local and state governments, and employers across a broad spectrum of industries. Through our shared ownership by the Menninger Clinic, New Directions and Menninger Care Systems are able to collaborate on both geographic coverage and customized program development.

The New Directions’ philosophy focuses on early intervention, care management and prevention as the most cost-effective means of providing behavioral health services.
