Promedix.com is a business-to-business, specialty medical product marketplace. Specialty medical products are defined as mid- to high-tech products typically procured outside of traditional distribution channels. These products are now purchased from a large number of suppliers, and transactions are almost exclusively conducted by telephone or fax (less than 1 percent are conducted using EDI).

In conjunction with its industry-leading Web site, Promedix.com offers healthcare systems a three-part E-Commerce Solution. The first component is Integration Services, which provides interfaces to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials Management software systems. After a simple integration process, buyers order seamlessly through their legacy systems.

The second part of the E-Commerce Solution provides customer-specific pricing capabilities, whereby prices can be set based on pre-existing contractual agreements or volume commitments. Buyers only see prices that correspond to those offered to their institution.

The final part of the E-Commerce Solution provides products screening and custom content to assist healthcare systems in achieving their product standardization and utilization objectives.
